When Irish Teeth are Biting.

Rawhead Rex (1986)

Directed by George Pavlou

What makes a bad movie? Bad actors, terrible directing, bad writing? So yeah, Rawhead Rex has a little of all of the above (except maybe writing, Clive Barker is a genius.) but still manages to be a wonderful treasure of a horror film to me. Maybe its the nostalgia of seeing the awesome title creature on the VHS box in the video store. Or maybe it's the sweet copy of Fangoria magazine I ordered in the mail. Or perhaps it's the scene in the film where Rawhead (Do you mind if I call you Rawhead?) tips over an RV filled with elderly people and I laugh and laugh (what is wrong with me)?

Is it me or does it look like Rawhead is doing his best Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club impersonation?

Okay, maybe it's just me.

So it turns out that Mr. Rex is a in fact a Pagan god accidentally set loose to by an Irish farmer. Turns out he is not a very nice god and decides to flip over RVs filled with old people and rip jerk boyfriend's heads off. Not very nice indeed.

So yeah, some poor religious scholar bloke has to try to try and kill Rawhead and turns out it's pretty hard. Maybe there are some clues in the local church? Yeah, I'd look there maybe. For clues. Yeah. Good luck.
